A qualified mining workforce: A major asset for the mining sector

A recent publication by Quebec’s Institut National des Mines documents the skills valued within the mining workforce when integrating new digital technologies into current operations (translated title: Portrait of employee training provided by mining companies: A comparative study 2013-2016-2019).

Since 2013, the situation has constantly been evolving, not only in business but also in educational institutions. New questions about the digital shift and raised for the first time in 2019, have clarified how mining companies should use machine simulators and other virtual, augmented or mixed-reality simulation tools.

Identifying specific training needs is a fundamental objective for the Institute. Their comparative study makes it possible to target the most relevant digital skills.
